    1950<\/div>\n

    India\u2019s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and U.S. Ambassador Loy Henderson sign the \u201cAgreement Between the Government of India and the Government of the United States of America for Financing Certain Educational Exchange Programs,\u201d which established the United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) to administer the Fulbright Program.<\/li>\n

    2008<\/div>\n

    India\u2019s Foreign Secretary Mr. Shiv Shankar Menon and U.S. Ambassador Dr. David C. Mulford sign a new agreement, whereby India and the United States commit to fund the Fulbright Program as equal partners. USEFI is renamed USIEF (United States-India Educational Foundation), and the core programs become known as Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships to honor India\u2019s first Prime Minister.<\/li>\n

    USIEF announces call for applications for the U.S.-India 21st Century Knowledge Initiative grant program. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration and build partnerships between U.S. and Indian institutions of higher education.<\/li>\n

    USIEF celebrates 70 years of the Fulbright Program in India, highlighting decades of impactful India-US educational exchange and showcasing alumni achievements across diverse fields.\n<\/li>\n

    USIEF celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright Program with an art exhibit titled \u201cReciprocation \u2013 American Fulbright Artists and India\/ Collaborations & Connections.\u201d\n<\/li>\n

    USIEF joins the global celebration of the Humphrey Program’s 45th anniversary by hosting the Global Policy Series in India, fostering dialogue on key international issues and alumni contributions.\n<\/li>\n
