Design

UCLA medical group hired H2S Engineers to design dedicated central system for their 10,000 SF Sterilization Process Department. This challenging project required unique solution to find space and distribution to take existing SPD department off the main building HVAC and serve it by a dedicated AHU and a water-cooled chiller that will be located in the basement parking area. Apart from challenges associated with main equipment location and distribution, H2S also came up with solutions for new exhaust fan location and distribution, replacement of main supply trunks in the space without shutting down on going operations and short switch over design between systems. H2S used building chilled water return for chiller condenser section and derated the chiller to work on lower condenser water temp to avoid having a cooling tower for the chiller. Project was reviewed by HCAI and will be constructed in 2026.
